On the farm

So Far(m)

Early mornings, lots of hard work… and rain.

That’s what I saw when I sat down at the kitchen table this morning to sort through our pictures from the last few months. Well, that and how much we’ve actually accomplished in such a short time.

From the first signs of spring…

… to bountiful CSA baskets. Week 5 already! Can you believe it?

We love getting up early to see the sun rise over the farm. Nothing but pink skies and possibilities. Yep, these are the moments dreams are made of.

Flash(flood) forward… we thought about building an arc. We had a record breaking 1 1/2 inches of rain in an hour. But managed to dry out. Beautifully.

In fact, it seems everyone around here’s had time for some R&R… except us.

But do we mind? Nope. Not one bit.

We’ve learned that with farming there is very little rest. Some days are gratifying and some days are more of a challenge. But we’ve learned to take pride in our accomplishments, no matter how small. We’ve learned we can’t control everything. And to have faith that even the toughest situations will work out… somehow, in the end.  It’s hard work but we’re learning to embrace it, because the rewards are immense.

Thanks for letting us share.

Until next time…
